Even though the technology has been around for decades, only now are we starting to see mass production and adoption of touchscreen and gestural devices for the public. Jeff Han’s influential 2006 TED demonstration of his multitouch system, followed by the launches of Nintendo’s Wii, Apple’s iPhone, and Microsoft Surface, have announced a new era of interaction design, one where gestures in space and touches on a screen will be as prominent as pointing and clicking.

Microsoft scheint in letzter Zeit bemerkenswerte Fortschritte zu machen. Erst punkten sie mit wpf und wpf/e Silverlight und dann vor wenigen Tagen mit Microsoft Surface.

Durch meine ersten Tests mit Silverlight bin ich mittlerweile etwas Tiefer in die Microsoft Welt eingetaucht und jetzt auf Seadragon & Photosynth gestoßen.

Mit Seadragon lässt sich (Online) innerhalb extrem hochaufgelöster Bilder navigieren.

Photosynth ermöglicht Bilder auf ihren Inhalt hin zu analysiert, und in einen semantischen Zusammenhang zu bringen. Das Ergebnis wird in einer dreidimensionalen Pyramide umgerechnet.
Photosynth kann sogar Online getestet werden.

With Photosynth you can:

• Walk or fly through a scene to see photos from any angle.
• Seamlessly zoom in or out of a photo whether it’s megapixels or gigapixels in size.
• See where pictures were taken in relation to one another.
• Find similar photos to the one you’re currently viewing.
• Send a collection – or a particular view of one – to a friend.
