readwriteweb hat del.icio.us Gründer Joshua Schachter in einem Interview die Zukunftspläne von del.icio.us entlocken können. Demnach plant der Social Bookmarking Service (gekauft von Yahoo) ein Social Network mit stärkerer Ausrichtung auf Personen anstatt auf Daten.

One of the amazing things about our users is how smart and far-reaching their interests are. While delicious previously has been very much about just the data, in the future I hope to allow our users themselves to come forward within the system. Additionally, I want to help people connect with others within the system, either to people they already know or discovering new people and communities based on interest.(Joshua Schachter)

Delicious hat mit dem Feature “Your Network” schon erste Ansätze eines Social Networks, allerdings können hier nur Links geshared werden. Wahrschienlich wird das System in dieser Richtung weiter ausgebaut, so dass Kommentar und Gruppenfunktionen, ähnlich wie es Imeem (Kombination von: content browsing with social networking) anbietet, hinzukommen werden.

Ich bin gespannt was uns erwartet.
